February 15, 2010

Dear Members of the Missouri Pilots Association:

You've marked March 24th on your 2010 calendar as State Aviation Day.  Now it's time to move forward with the details concerning this year's event.

In an effort to make it easier for you to visit with your representatives - and for them to join us for a buffet lunch - we will congregate on the 3rd floor of the Capitol in the southwest alcove of the Rotunda.  (See attached map.)  We have received very positive comments on the food that was served last year, so The Gallery ladies will be catering this event for us from 11:00AM to 1:30PM.

As we did last year, we are asking for co-sponsors of the 2010 State Aviation Day.  To assist with the cost of the reception, along with the expenses for the activities and promotion of the day, we are asking aviation businesses, airports, associations and cities to join us by co-sponsoring this exciting event.  Several chapters have contributed to this worthy event in the past, and we hope that will be the case again this year.  This is not the time to let our guard down.

Please contact Carolyn Morris at 573-348-5614 or

Click this envelope to send an e-mail to Carolyn to indicate your willingness to co-sponsor State Aviation Day to be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010.  The sooner you can let her know your intentions, the sooner our plans can be finalized.   We will also need to know about how many to expect  from each chapter in order to have an approximate head count for food and beverage.

State Aviation Day provides us with an opportunity to meet with our legislators to discuss the economic impact of aviation on their communities and the state.  It's also the perfect time to answer any questions they may have on aviation issues.  When setting up an appointment with your legislator, remember to invite him/her to join us for lunch on the 3rd floor of the Capitol in the southwest alcove of the Rotunda between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Even in these uncertain times, and perhaps because of these uncertain times, we feel it is very important to continue our joint efforts to mark the importance of General Aviation to the state of Missouri.  Be sure to check our website www.mopilots.org for the most current information on this event.

Blue skies and tail winds,
