July Gateway Meeting: Wednesday July 12th. at the Columns in St. Charles. We invite all MPA members and their quests to join us!

Our own President BOB KRAEMER will speak on his experiences flying the last Navy seaplanes a PMF-1 and a PMF-2 from 1964 to 1968. And he will talk about his Naval flying.

The dinner buffet will include: a tossed salad, chicken rice soup, mango glazed chicken, BBQ beef brisket, augratin potatoes, buttered corn, rolls & butter, and strawberry shortcake. Dinner is $ 14.00 per person. Doors open at 6:00pm. serving begins at 6:30p.m. The program gets under way at 7:30p.m. with a short business meeting to follow. PLEASE phone your dinner reservations to JEAN MURRY (314-469-3541) by 3:00p.m. on Monday July 10th. Please join us and bring a friend and receive a free 50/50 ticket.

The STATE CONVENTION at Kansas City Mo. was once again a fun time and informative to all. The luncheon speaker was Michael Gaffney from Skyline Aeronautics based at Spirit Airport. He spoke about the upcoming glass cockpits and the new avionics. The following awards were presented at the luncheon: Aviation Award went to Ron Wade, the Blackford Trophy went to Les Featherston, Special Award went to Jonathan Rimington, Media Award went to Sarah Vaughn. The largest attendance Award went to the St. Louis Chapter.

The new state officers are: President Gary Johnson, 1st VP Billy Ray, 2nd VP JC Zalog, Sec. Harriet Shipman, and Tres. Charles Shipman.

Dinner speaker was Representative Sam Graves. He spoke about his aviation career and his recent visit to Bagdad.
Fred Harms presented the Wright Brothers Master Aviation Award to Jim Morris and Al St. Germain.
Walter and Shirley Petring and Larry and Bette McClure were in attendance. They all looked forward to seeing those from the Gateway Chapter who could make the convention.

The annual picnic at Smartt Field was well attended. Music was provided by Albrechts and band. Always an added hit. The weather was beautiful and the food delicious. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
