MPA Heartland Chapter Meeting
Tuesday, March 29th 2016

The March meeting was held at Frisco's in Cuba at 6 pm on 3/29/2016. There were 17 members present. President John Fester called the meeting to order and had Bob Carmack lead us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Old business was next on the agenda and the first discussion was about the new FBO manager at UBX, Travis Pritchett. Travis and his dad Bob, are also now settled in a hangar at UBX with their aircraft repair shop, offering a full service airplane and helicopter repair and maintenance facility. They also have a 152 for rent now and other planes coming in the future.

Next we discussed the ramp repair project and hope to have a firm date soon so we can move aircraft as needed. Then we discussed hosting an open house/ fly-in in April or May. Looking for dates and volunteers.

In new business it was mentioned that we have a new charter service being offered at VIH. Larry Roff is the pilot/owner of a Cessna 414 and is in the process of getting his 135 certificate. Hopefully it will be soon since it will be a good boost for aviation in this area.

Signs for the airport were discussed as we need to get some signs up at UBX since the old ones have been down for a while. Don Fuchs said he will contact the city to see if we can get some financial help.

The topic for the night was about ADS-B and it's implementation. Mark Grimes led the talk and presented a slide show with points of information about how it works and how it will be implemented. A lot of questions and comments soon followed. Thanks to Mark for his work and research on the project.

Meeting adjourned at 8pm.
