The regular meeting of the Heartland Chapter of the Missouri Pilots Association was held August 1, at Shoney's Restaurant in Rolla, MO. 20 members and guests attended.
Fred Goodwin reported on a successful day at Cuba (UBX) on July 22. The Boy Scouts made over $500 with their barbecue and 116 young people were flown through the EAA Young Eagles Program. Another fly-in/open house will be scheduled in October.
Sullivan will have a fly-in/open house on September 16. Chapter members are asked to volunteer.
The program for the evening was "Woody" Woodward, former military pilot who presented information he gathered on the "Spruce Goose" during a vacation.
The September program is new MPA member George Howell, a retired 747 captain, who will present information about the 747 and compare the numbers with the "Spruce Goose." The meeting will be Tuesday, September 5 at Shoney's in Rolla. Dinner at 7:00, program at 7:45.
