56 members and guests attended the August 6th picnic/bbq meeting of the Heartland Chapter of the Missouri Pilots Association. The meeting was held at Rolla National Airport.
The program for the evening was Roger Dubbert, a representative from Zenith Aircraft/Zenair from Mexico, MO, who brought one of their aircraft to show and demonstrate. He spoke a litle about the capabilities of the aircraft, and directed members to have a look at their web site for more details. The short field capabilities of the demo aircraft were amazing, lifting off in less distance than it takes a cessna to start rolling.
Some discussion took place about the Christmas Party. Current plan is to have it at UMR, on the regular December meeting night. More discussion will be taking place at the September meeting.
Several members of the were duly shocked to learn that long-time member Jim Schneider actually attended the entire meeting.
The September meeting will be a regular dinner and meeting at Shoney's in Rolla. Program for the evening will be Chris Keithley, a UMR Graduate Student in Aerospace Engineering, who will be discussing UMR's flight simulation facilities. He will also be covering some of the research work being done in the lab and FAA certification of flight simulators.
Chapter information, future meetings, and minutes of the meetings are available at the chapter web site: http://www.mopilots.org/heartland
Safe flying.
