PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE - Happy New Year, Happy Valentines Day and a Top of the Morning to ya for a safe St. Pat's - plus - Happy Birthday Abe and George - hope I've covered them all. *** A lovely evening was enjoyed by members who attended our January 3rd annual dinner at the Argosy for what is now being referred to as, "Crabby Night". *** I know it's hard to think of Spring - but I'm ready. *** Your State MPA board is ready and winding down planning activities for the first "State Aviation Day" scheduled for Wednesday, April 25th in Jefferson City. In preparation for this first-ever event, we are asking that every MPA member sign up to visit at least one of the 114 paved, public-use airports in the State System Plan prior to the event. If you are interested, please contact me ASAP and your name will be submitted to Les Featherston who is assigning airports as he will send you a packet of information to leave at each location with the airport manager. Please read your State Newsletter for more detailed information. *** I am also pleased to announce that your KC Board is busy planning top notch speakers. Our February speaker, Gene Snyder, has confirmed - plus - the "Big Guy" is coming in March. Remember our favorite FAA guy who later became our AOPA Regional Rep? If you guessed Bob Dickens you're correct. He will be addressing that dreaded term that we have been hearing lately called "user fees". We're hoping for a large turn out, so please invite anyone you think might be interested. *** We need board members and officers. Anyone interested in the survival of the KC Chapter please contact me at 795-7233 or Gary Fox.

SPEAKER FOR FEBRUARY – We are fortunate to have convinced Gene Snyder, a name those who have had connections with Executive Beechcraft will recognize, to speak at our February meeting. Gene had twenty-three years in the Army Air Corps and its successor. He then spent 18 years in civilian flying. A most interesting career, but I just wanted to tease you. Please mark your calendars. As mentioned, Bob Dickens will talk in March, and our April meeting will serve as FAA Appreciation Day. For May, we are planning on a "Tall Towers" presentation to follow up the informative talk we had on how instrument procedures are designed. Please support the chapter with your attendance. Editor.

DINNER RESERVATION INFORMATION – Our next regular meeting will begin with social time at 6:00, dinner at 6:30 on Wednesday, February 28th at the DAV. The menu will consist of Corned Beef and Cabbage, New Potatoes and Carrots, Horse Radish, Salad, Corn Bread/Butter, Coffee/Tea, Dessert. If not on the permanent list, please make your reservations with Terrie Jo by Monday noon, February 26th by e-mail, or 795-7233. Terrie Jo Fox

NEW OFFICERS - The present board stayed on from last year except for Marvin Moore who has joined FAA. It is time to start thinking about a new slate of officers. New officers bring new ideas and enthusiasm. Please consider volunteering. The old board will be glad to offer any assistance to get started. Elections will be in March, swearing in April, and the new board takes over in May. Editor.

Please mark your calendars now so you won't forget any meetings.

rally is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25th at the Capitol in Jefferson City. Please see the article in the February MPA News, page 4, for details. Let's support the purposes of the event. Editor

Previously slated to end in 2006, the program is extended a year. If you wish to get one more set of wings, all it takes is one hour of air work, one hour of takeoffs and landings, one hour of instrument and a safety meeting. It is the responsibility of each chapter WINGS Chair to keep track of all their WINGS participants. So -please- keep Chapter Wings Officer, Penrod Turk, informed upon the completion of any phase. (4 West 112th Street, Kansas City, MO 64114-5304) Questions?

We will be flying to only 3 or 4 close airports in 2007 due to gas prices, and to increase our flying and members' participation. (Non-flyers welcome!) With a new chairperson, we hope to provide e-mail notification the week before. Please volunteer. Info on flyouts can be obtained at, or the State News Letter.
