The December chapter meeting was held a week earlier than our usual fourth Wednesday date. About 52 members and guests met at "V's Italian Restaurant" on Wednesday, December 12. With a cash bar and tasty Italian buffet, the Christmas spirit was in the air! After dinner Paul thanked June Williams for all her work in the dinner arrangements, Penrod Turk for making the holiday place cards, Marty Young for handling the finances and the restaurant staff.

Paul Broome introduced "Coach" our surprise guest entertainment, at the December Christmas Party. Then the fun began by "Coach" (Davis Aldridge to us) who proceeded to entertain us. Coach is a ventriloquist extraordinary! He brought along "Ronny" his red-headed, 27-year-old (going on 11!) Buddy who spends most of his time inside a box. Keeping that in mind, here's a bit from that evening:

Coach: Ronny, are you looking forward to Christmas?

Ronny: Oh, no!

Coach: Well, for heaven's sake! Why not! Santa Claus will be coming!

Ronny: That's just the problem. I'm CLAUStrophobic!

Coach and Ronny kept us laughing by poking fun and telling jokes. Later, when Ronny was back in his box, Coach brought out "Roadkill"a turkey buzzard! He had some good lines too.

We all had a great time thanks to Paul Broome and his surprise guest "Coach"!!

January 26, Saturday - Iowa Aviation Museum's 5th annual Chili Fly-In, Greenfield, IA. (Landing @ 12:00 noon) They have a nice small air museum (on the field) and their is a Chili Flyin at the airport. Lot's of Fun for Everyone!

February 10, Sunday - St Joseph, Rosecrans Mem. Airport, Landing @ 11:00 for lunch.

February 24, Sunday - Lamoni Mun, Airport, Landing @ 10:30 for lunch.

January 23, 2002 — Mr. Lee Lamar was a B-24 bomber pilot during the 2nd WW and was shot down over Italy. He was captured and spent the rest of the war as a P.O.W. He will tell about his experiences and will have some artifacts to display. Should be very interesting.

January 23, 2002 - at DAV, 8787 Old Santa Fe Road. Reservations MUST BE MADE by SATURDAY, January 19, 2002, if not on the permanent reservation list. Special dietary needs can be accommodated at the time of the reservation.

Remember - Meeting time: Social from 6:00 to 6:30 P.M. Dinner at 6:30. Cost is $12.00 per person.


MO-KAN Wings Contest - Remember - Get ready for next year. All non-pilot members should attend a safety meeting and have a WINGS card signed. These are needed for our inter-state rivalry with the Kansas Pilots Association (KPA). The KPA is very serious about this contest and won the trophy (furnished by Ed Duckworth) last year. All non-pilot members should send their signed wings card to Penrod Turk

The State Wings Contest runs from April 1st thru March 31st each year. Let's make the WINGS year WINGS Safe. All it takes is one hour of air work, one hour of takeoffs and landings, one hour of instrument and a safety meeting. It is the responsibility of each chapter WINGS Chair to keep track of all their WINGS participants. So — please — keep Chapter Wings Officer, Penrod Turk, informed upon the completion of any phase. MPA Board Meetings - This is a reminder that any member can attend our chapter board meetings . They are held on the first Tuesday of the month, excluding holidays, at Executive Beechcraft, Downtown Airport, at 7:00 P.M. We always welcome your advice and assistance, and the hospitality is great.
