Representative Meredith suggested that each one who is planning to attend the reception try to arrive in the afternoon in time to drop by your Senator and Representative's office and urge him/her to support Senate Bill 324 and House Bill 436. Denny said that is, by far, the most effective method of promoting the bills. He also said that for the past several days, the lobbyists from MTIA have been busy visiting with legislators in order to garner support in opposing the bills. AOPA has prepared a mailing to over 6,000 Missouri members. Those alerts will be mailed as soon as the bills are assigned to committee. It is of the utmost importance that we get out and ask our legislators for support. Both Senator Childers and Representative Meredith have stated that if they get 15 or 20 calls on a proposal it gets their attention. If they get a couple of hundred it can make the difference between winning or losing. Our strength is in our numbers.
Bob Dickens will be mailing 210 engraved invitations to all the legislators in the General Assembly. Please try to attend and support this proposition. Also, if you plan to attend please let Bob know so that he can plan food and drinks accordingly. Also, he would appreciate it if you would let him know how many plan to visit with your legislators the afternoon prior to the reception.
Please feel free to contact any supporters and extend an invitation to attend.
