MPA LEGISLATION REPORT
May 2002

The Missouri Pilots Association has a powerful voice in Washington, D.C. and in Jefferson City, MO. I urge you as an MPA Member to keep yourself updated with all the Legislation Bills by going to our MPA Web Site - You are there - Thank you.

This past year in Missouri, Aviation Bills has been very interesting. The 91ST General Assembly convened on January 9, 2002 and your state government was once again in full swing. Representative Denny Merideth, III introduced HB 1207 (Missouri Airport Protection Act). Senator Doyle Childers introduced SB 725 (Missouri Airport Protection Act) which was the Senate's Version of this Bill. MPA took a specific position on Both MAPA (Missouri Airport Protection Act) Bills.

Next SB 968 (Aviation Jet Fuel Tax) was rolled into SCS SB 970 (Senate Committee Substitute). We have had a very hard Battle either from the Missouri House of Representatives or the Missouri Senate, trying to get these Bills out of Committee to a Full Vote from the House or Senate.

This is going to take more effort on each and every MPA Member, I'm suggesting every Member of MPA needs to get on a personal basis with your State Senator or State Representative. You need to get to know these people, on a one to one level!

The Missouri House of Representatives 2002, Session of the 91ST General Assembly, Second Regular ends on May 17TH at 6:00 P.M.

This is why, it's been a very interesting year, Remember one thing, we must be persistent, and not give up our fight to Protect, Preserve, our Missouri Airports. We must continue working together as a Collective Group of Pilots, and Taxpayers speaking one loud voice for General Aviation in Missouri. This is why it's very important to get to know your Senators and Representatives, so we can get all of the Legislation Issues Passed, and Finally Become Law.

Now in Conclusion, Let's Continue Working Together as One United Voice!

So we will make a "Difference for General Aviation in Missouri."

Until Next Time!

SAFE FLYING!
