April 2008 Issue # 04

The Pony Express Chapter of the MPA met at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at the Rosecrans Airport Restaurant. Twenty-nine members and guests were present.

After dinner, President Kevin Price called the business meeting to order and introduced a guest, George Knudsen. Kevin also announced that Bill Bird flew his first solo.

Billy Ray moved and Bill Bird seconded the motion to accept the February minutes as published. Motion passed. Ray Kerns gave a treasurer’s report showing disbursements totaling $146.21 for a balance of $5,290.37.

Kevin reported that 158 pilots and 20 legislators attended the reception held in the Governor’s Mansion on Aviation Day. Six people attended from our Chapter.

Billy Ray reported that there is one month left in the third quarter of the membership challenge. Our Chapter is still ahead.

Ron Wade announced that there will be a Flight Safety Seminar at OJC on March 6 at 7:00 p.m. The Seminar is entitled "The 5 Most Common Mistakes Pilots Make."

Ron then introduced our speaker and her husband, Eula and Jon Marrow from Atchison. Eula received her Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic Certification from Maple Woods Community College. She told us about and showed us examples of materials used to redo airplane interiors. Eula emphasized that when airplane interiors are done, the owner should insist on getting the paper work to show that the materials and repairs meet FAR regulations.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Kay Cameron

Secretary
