April 2009 Issue # 04
The Pony Express Chapter of the MPA met at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the Rosecrans Airport Café. Twenty-two members and guests were present.
After dinner, President Bill Bird called the business meeting to order. Ron Wade introduced Jerry Wilkerson as a guest. Les Nelson moved and Bob Barry seconded the motion to accept the minutes as published. Motion passed. Kay Cameron gave the treasurers report in Ray Kerns absence. The balance as of March 3, 2009, was $5,297.37. This balance reflects a rebate from the MPA for $63.00 and a payment of $90.48 to the Rosecrans Airport Café.
After the treasurers report, there was a discussion of continuing to meet at the Rosecrans Café and paying for meals when there are not 25 paying people in attendance. The group decided to continue meeting at Rosecrans for a while longer and for each member to encourage others to attend the meetings.
Chet Edwards, Wings chairperson, reported that there will be a Wings meeting in Maryville in the near future. Bill Bird asked for ideas for future programs.
Les Nelson moved to support the Boy Scout Camporee planned for September 26 and 27 at the airport. Ron Wade seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Ron Wade is the representative for Rosecrans Airport for the Air Safety Network. He will keep us informed of meetings and items of interest. Runway incursions continue to be the number one cause for accidents at airports.
Les Nelson moved and Ron Wade seconded the motion to donate $100 for Aviation Day and MPA State Convention.
After the business meeting, Bill introduced Mark Kahl from MCI as our guest speaker.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kay Cameron
Secretary
