January, 2008 Issue #1

The Pony Express Chapter of the Missouri Pilots Association met at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, in the community room of Meierhoffer’s Funeral Home for our Christmas potluck. Twenty-five members and guests were present.

After dinner, President Billy Ray called the business meeting to order. Les Nelson moved and Marlene Mowry seconded the motion to accept the minutes as published. The motion passed. Billy reported a balance of $5,932.48 in the treasury.

Billy announced that our chapter is still leading the MPA competition for new members, and we are maintaining our position as having the largest membership in the State. Kay encouraged anyone who gets a new member to send her the name, address, and email address so that the new members can receive our newsletter right away.

The 2008 State MPA Convention will be held in Branson in May. Les Nelson moved to donate $150 to help with the initial expenses of planning the Convention. Kevin Price seconded the motion. The motion passed. Missouri Aviation Day will be February 20th. The program will include a reception at the Governor’s Mansion. Reservations will be required for the reception. Les Nelson moved and Bob Barry seconded the motion to donate $100 to help defray the expense of the reception. The motion passed.

The following 2008 slate of officers was presented: president, Kevin Price; vice-president, Bill Bird; treasurer, Ray Kerns; secretary/newsletter, Kay Cameron. Les moved to accept the slate by acclamation. Mike Meierhoffer seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Thanks to Billy Ray for doing a great job as president for the past two years.

The next meeting will be JANUARY 8, 2008 at Rosecrans Airport Café.

After the business meeting concluded, we had our gift exchange. Some gifts were "exchanged" several times. A big thanks to Lou Anne Wyrick for helping with planning and cleanup for the potluck.

Respectfully submitted,

Kay Cameron, secretary

This newsletter is void of pictures because I had to learn some new techniques for producing email newsletters. The mailed version of the newsletter contained 4 really great pictures, but the pictures had too many pixels to download reasonably in an email. If you take pictures for the newsletter, please set your camera for as low pixel setting as possible. Thanks--

Happy New Year to each of you!!!!!
