July 2009 Issue # 07

The Pony Express Chapter of the MPA met on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at the Rosecrans Airport Café. Twenty-seven members and guests were present.

After dinner, President Bill Bird called the business meeting to order. Les Nelson moved to accept the minutes as published. Ed Tomlinson seconded the motion, and the motion passed. Ray Kerns presented the treasurer’s report showing a balance of $5,038.20.

Bill Bird gave the following report for airport manager Mike Hurst. He is considering taking out the wind direction indicator on the field and is asking for feedback from the pilots. The FAA announced that it would no longer lease office space in the tower. This would mean a loss of over $70,000 a year in income. Mike is still discussing some options with the FAA.

EAA members who are qualified to give Young Eagles rides are still needed to volunteer for the Boy Scout Camporee in September.

Bill Bird presented the MPA 2009 Media Award to News-Press reporter Marshall White. This award was announced at the recent MPA Convention in Branson. Marshall has been a reporter with the News-Press for 12 years.

We were reminded of the Wing Nuts Flying Circus EAA Chapter 1405 Fly-In on Saturday, July 11, in Tarkio. For more information go to www.wingnutsflyingcircus.com
