September 2009 Issue # 09
The Pony Express Chapter of the MPA met on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at the Rosecrans Airport Café. Twenty-seven members and guests were present.
After dinner, President Bill Bird called the business meeting to order. The minutes were approved as published. Ray Kerns presented the treasurers report showing expenses of $38.57 and a balance of $4,946.39.
Several members discussed their trips to the 2009 EAA AirVenture.
It was announced that the MPA October 10th meeting will be at Rebel Bluff near Mount Vernon and hosted by Les Featherson.
We were reminded of the Boy Scout Camporee on September 26.
We had a refund from MPA of $100.
Our speaker for the evening was Doug Jackson, FAASTeam Program Manager for the Central Region. His topic was "takeoffs and landings and the wings program." Doug reminded us that 50% of accidents occur on takeoffs and landings. One of the most important questions a pilot must answer is "go, no go?" If you are a part of the Wings program and are involved in an incident, you might get some slack.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kay Cameron, secretary
