February 2005
President’s Message
First, I'll relay news from long-time chapter members, Roger and Naomi Ferguson. Roger had a bout with the
flu, which brought a little pneumonia, but after a couple days in the cancer ward (don't be alarmed, the hospital
was just short of beds!) Roger is recuperating at home.
Thanks to all of you who attended last month's meeting. I hope none of you needed to practice any of the security
scenarios I mentioned in my program, but now you are all aware. We have another interesting program on tap for
February. Long-time area pilot, instructor, and ATC specialist, Jack Reynolds, has agreed to present a new program
he is developing about airline accidents, including the 1954 crash at SGF, and the famous (infamous) mid-air collision
over the Grand Canyon that provided the impetus for the air traffic control system as we know it. Jack's program
includes some new material, from the late Jack Clark, who knew the pilot of one of the doomed airliners, and collected
much material about the accident.
So, bring a friend and enjoy our program. It's a whole new world out there. See you Tuesday!
