September 2001
President’s Message
As new president of the Springfield Chapter of the Missouri Pilots Association, I would like
to tell the previous officers and members, I have attended the meetings for the past year and the example set forth
and the knowledge I have gained as a student pilot was not only valuable but very enjoyable as well.
This coming year, with the help of my newly elected officers, I will try to not only expand the Springfield membership
of our organization but also try to get our inactive members rekindled and reunited in a regular basis in our fellowship.
In the September meeting Don Hinni will be giving a slide presentation and dissertation of the Reno air races for
2001. That should be quite interesting and enjoyable.
After the October meeting, a tour of the Repair Facility of the Missouri Av-crad is in order. Again that should
be quite a bit of fun for the members and their families.
We are in the infant stages of putting a MPA information brochure together for our local. Many of the local flying
instructors were quite willing to place our literature. I closing I hope that this year as your president will
be both profitable and enjoyable for us all.
Be sure to note the new officers listed on Page 4. Contact any of them with ideas and comments about the activities
for the coming year. Only by working together, can we improve all aspects of our MPA Chapter.

[Editor's note] Our second Day of Infamy! Occurred yesterday when terrorists hijacked four different airliners
and crashed three of them into the Pentagon and the World Trade towers. Let us resolve that the same fate will
befall the perpetrators ad did the Japanese military following Pearl Harbor on 12/7/41!
