More than a dozen pilots enjoyed lunch at Wings-A-Blazin' after flying five different planes to Hermann on Sunday.
The Hermann Municipal Airport rarely sees as much traffic as it did Sunday morning when the St. Louis Chapter of the Missouri Pilots Association landed five different planes. The group then headed over to Wings-A-Blazin', an ideal lunch spot for the aviation crowd.
The club stages "fly-outs" about once a month to different spots around the Midwest. Hermann was a relatively short trip for the pilots, but it was still a chance to log about 45 minutes in the air and take in a new place.
"It's one of our favorite things to do in aviation," Chapter President Art Stewart said of the fly-out sojourns.
The group chose to fly to Hermann after chapter member Hubert Looney visited the wineries and attractions in Hermann and discovered Wings-A-Blazin'. He said the ambience of the restaurant made it seem like a fun place for the chapter to pick as a destination.
