April 7th
Jeff
Edwards will be our guest speaker on April 7th. Mr Edwards is a former U.S. Navy A-6 Intruder Bombardier/Navigator
and Naval Safety Center Aircraft Accident Investigator. Following his service in the Navy, Mr Edwards was an Aircraft
Accident Investigator and Senior Project Engineer for McDonnell Douglas. While at McDonnell Douglas he continued
to investigate military fighter accidents involving the F/A-18 Hornet, F-15 Eagle, and the AV-8B Harrier. Additionally,
he investigated a number of commercial accidents involving the McDonnell Douglas product line, including the Florida
Everglades Valujet disaster. He founded AvSafe in 1997. Since founding AvSafe, Mr. Edwards has reconstructed a
variety of aircraft accidents for clients around the globe. In addition to working for the defense team in the
1998 Marine Corps EA-6B gondola case, Mr. Edwards has consulted for clients on matters in Mexico, Kuwait, and the
United Kingdom. Most recently, Mr. Edwards has been involved with accident reconstruction efforts in the Governor
Mel Carnahan crash.
Jeff is also an accomplished pilot, Master Flight Instructor (less than 1/3 of 1% of CFIs hold this designation)
and FAA Designated Pilot Examiner. He has reconstructed many aircraft accidents involving flight instruction or
flight examination issues. He was named the National Flight Instructor of the Year for 2003 as well as the FAA
Central Region Flight Instructor of the Year for 2003. Mr. Edwards also received the distinct honor and designation
of 2003 Accident Prevention Counselor of the Year for the FAA St. Louis Flight Standards District Office.

April 6th
MPA Guests at Missouri Capitol
Jack Jackson, a MPA member and a Missouri State Representative, has invited our chapter to be his guest at the
Capitol in Jefferson City on Tuesday, April 6th. We would like a lot of our members to join us in representing
MPA. Be at the Capitol by 0945 at Jack's Office (201CA) which is at the west end of the building. Park at any meter
or in the garage 2 blocks east of the Capitol. Or fly down and meet us at JEF at 0915. We will go into the House
at 1000 to be introduced as Jack's guests. Then we will have a tour of the Govenor's Mansion at 1100, and lunch
at Madisons at 1145. Jack is really happy we are coming, so please come. Please RSVP Carol Weber at 636-458-2529

April 17th
The weather did not cooperate on January 17th so we will give April 17th a try for a Fly-Out to Dexter (DXE) for
ribs at the Hickory Log Restaurant. Plan to arrive at DXE at 1200. Bring cash since they do not accept credit cards.
Reminder: You must notify Carol Weber (636-458-2529 or Carol@MoPilots.US) of the head count in your party by April
16th since she has to arrange for transportation from the airport to the restaurant. Fly outs are Very VFR (5000
ft and 5 miles). Check with flight service or call Carol.

Name Tags

Name Tags on sturdy heavy plastic that can be worn with a clip or lanyard are now available for $5. They are in full color and very durable since the graphics are imbedded in the plastic vs. being printed on the plastic. You can even use them as ice scrapers!
