Saturday, April 4th
Yes, Saturday at Noon!

Saturday is not our usual meeting day but since our usual meeting date/time
would conflict with State Aviation Day we will meet on Saturday, April 4th.

Come to hear: "Improving Your Takeoffs and Landings"

You can learn from the mistakes of others! Over 50% of all GA accidents occur on takeoff and landing. We will examine several takeoff and landing accidents and learn how to do it correctly. This presentation includes tips from the FAA examiner and aircraft accident investigator, Jeff Edwards.

Jeff has been a flight instructor since1982 and is currently serving as an FAA designated pilot examiner. He is a designated Master Certificated Flight Instructor and in 2003 was selected as National Flight Instructor of the year. He is a Lancair IV-P kit airplane owner and builder, a founder and current President of the Lancair Owners and Builders Organization.

In 1997, Jeff founded AvSafe, an aviation safety consulting company; AvSafe provides consulting services to the insurance and legal industry. Jeff has consulted on over 350 aircraft accident cases including the Marine Corps EA-6B gondola wire strike in Cavalese, Italy, the Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan Cessna 335 loss of control accident and others. You won't want to miss hearing Jeff's presentation!

Come to hear this entertaining presentation! You won't want to miss this special speaker!

Our private room opens up at 1200 with Lunch ($15/person) being served at 1230. Our guest speaker's presentation will be around 1330. We will meet at the Sunset Lakes Banquet Center 13366 W. Watson Road in Sappington, MO 63127.

Wednesday, April 1st

It's that time again! It's time for all of us to meet in Jefferson City for the 3rd annual State Aviation Day. State Aviation Day provides us with an opportunity to meet with our legislators to discuss the economic impact of aviation on their communities and the state of MO. It's also the perfect time to answer any questions they may have on aviation issues.

State Aviation Day will be held at the Gallery on April 1, 2009. The Gallery is at 102 East High Street (upstairs) from 4-6 PM. This is a venue that is used by many organization across the state for such events. It is very close to the Capitol with parking behind and easy access to the parking garage on Madison Street. Plan on going to Jefferson City for this Event! Meet and greet your legislators and fellow MPA members at the Gallery and enjoy the refreshments! See you there!

Saturday, April 11th

Hopefully the weather in April will be better than it was in the last few times we planed to fly to Fulton (FTT). We'll have an early lunch at a really good restaurant named Beks. Then take our rental transportation to the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library located on the campus of Westminster College. This is the site of Churchill's famous Iron Curtain speech. The memorial was founded in 1969 to honor the life and legacy of one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century. It is housed within the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury, a 12th century church, redesigned by Sir Christopher Wren in 1677. The church was relocated to Fulton from the middle of London.
Cost: Adults - $6.00, seniors, AAA, AARP - $5.00.

Since we will be leaving from the airport and need transportation, it is definitely necessary to know how many people we will have join us. Please plan your arrival by 1100 since we will have lunch at 1130 before going to the Winston Churchill Memorial. Let Sue Smith know if you will be joining us. Call her at 636 274.3663 or send her an email.
