June 21st
This year's Mystery Fly-Out was the best yet. The clues were not as easy as past years. It was a test of the aviators' skills since your GPS wouldn't get you to your final destination. It was a wacky, zig-zag course that took you to Perryville and then to Cape Giradeau before you were able to fly the last leg to the Mystery Destination: Metropolis. First prize of a Superman T-Shirt went to N-2830T.
Then came the big surprise. Everybody got in a shuttle van that took them to downtown Metropolis and next to the floating Casino. The Casino treated all the flyers to Brunch and then invited them to try their luck -- with the Casino providing the funds! Yes, that's right -- free lunch and free gambling. As if that weren't enough, everybody left with more moeny than was in their pockets when they came. AS said at the beginning, this was the best fly-out yet!

July 19th
June's Fly-Out is a tough act to follow but July's promises to be another great one. The guys & gals that go on this fly-out will be in for a wonderful Amish experience that is less than two hours away vs a long trip to Pennsylvania: The Amana Colonies. We will have some time to spend at the Colonies quaint shopping areas before enjoying a little different setting for a "family style" lunch. Meet at JetCorp at 0800 for an ETD of 0815. Note that we will be flying into CID, Cedar Rapids, and not Belle Plaine Municipal as published in the Fly-Out Info Sheet you received.

August 30th
Fly-Out to Bloomington IL. Note the change from the normal 3rd Sunday of the month. Why the change? So we could all enjoy the annual "Downtown Normal Cornfest" which runs from 1100 to 1600.

September 7th-13th
What to do the week after the St Louis Airshow: fly to Galesburg IL for the 27th National Stearman Fly-In. Not a formal MPA fly-out, but you can call Jerry who is flying up on Saturday for an overnite or just fly up for the day.

All the details leading up to the big weekend. September 12th
The South Central Chapter of the MPA is hosting an AirShow at the West Plains Airport in Pomona MO. Fly down there for a great day. Rain date is Sunday 13Sep. Field is closed from 1130 to 1330 for Aerobatic and Military Aircraft. Arrive early and take a Helicopter Ride ($15 donation) or just view the rare, unusual and military aircraft on the ground or the other exhibits. Have a rare bird you want to show off? Call 417 257-1530 and tell them you are coming.

September 18th, 19th 20th
The 98 MPA AirTour gathers at Mountain View AR (7M2) on Friday and off to Afton OK (3O9) on Saturday.

Mount Vernon Airport in Illinois is having a Fly-In. Glider Rides, Parachute Buddy Jumps, Ultralights, Antiques, Classics, Warbirds and Modern Aircraft including Military. Free food and drinks for pilots and passengers! Refuel at $1.59 per gallon for 100LL. Rain Day, Sunday, October 4th.

October 10th - 11th
Fly-Out to Point Lookout (PLK) in Branson MO on Saturday. Meet at JetCorp at noon for a 1215 departure. After checking into a motel the group will take in a show and enjoy the fine dining in the area.

Information about Branson On Sunday morning the group will depart for Springfield (SGF) for breakfast, visit the Bass Pro Shop. Bass Pro Shop web-site. If you do not wish to make the overnight trip to Branson but would like to fly down to Springfield on Sunday you are most welcome to join the group when they arrive at SGF.
