St. Louis Chapter Meeting
Wednesday, March 2, 2011
Our speaker for the March meeting will be Harry Lischer. Harry was THERE at the very beginning of the Missouri Pilots Association! He was so interesting when he spoke to us briefly at the December St. Louis Chapter meeting that we wanted to hear more! He briefly discussed the beginning of the MPA from way back in 1953. He was also very involved in the creation of MPA first chapter - the St. Louis Chapter! And he was the first president - so he should know!
He will be speaking to us, in more detail, about how the organization got started and who was involved. Names from the past that a lot of you will remember! This evening will be full of history and how we got here!
Our meeting will be held at Sunset Lakes Banquet Center, 13366 W. Watson Road, Sappington, MO 63127. Our private room opens at 6 pm with dinner ($18 per person) being served at 7 PM. Sunset Lakes Banquet Center can easily be found by taking I-270 to Gravois Road (MO Hwy 30) then west toward Fenton for approximately 2 miles, turn right onto West Watson Road and watch for the Sunset Lakes sign on the right side. We would love to have you join us!

Last month's meeting was postponed and then cancelled because of the weather & ice! We hope to see you at the March meeting!
Special Congratulations to A. Paul Vance!
The Fredericktown airport (H88) is now the A. Paul Vance Fredericktown Regional Airport.
Paul is a member of the St. Louis Chapter & is one of the original committee that organized the Missouri Pilots Association! He was honored by the city of Fredericktown at a ceremony last month. We are proud to know this aviation pioneer!
You won't want to miss this special EVENT!
Tuesday, March 29, 2011 is State Aviation Day.
For the last 5 years, our membership has gathered in Jefferson City & met with their legislators on this day. Our agenda remains the same; we have reserved both the House & Senate Alcoves of the Rotunda on the third floor of the capitol. We will meet for a buffet luncheon on the house side and tables & chairs will be set up on the Senate side. We will be serving food from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
State Aviation Day provides us with an opportunity to meet with our legislators to discuss the economic impact of aviation on their communities and the state. It's also the perfect time to answer any questions they may have on aviation issues.
When setting up an appointment with your legislator, remember to invite him/her to join us for lunch on the 3rd floor of the capitol in the southwest alcove of the Rotunda between 11:30 AM & 1:30 PM.
This will be our Fly Out Event for March 2011. You will want to arrive at Jefferson City airport (JEF) in time to meet with your legislator(s). Transportation will be provided from the Jefferson City Airport to the capitol.
See you there!
