November 7th Meeting
November 4th Update: Bob McDaniel has to go to an important meeting on the East
Coast and will not be available on November 7th. Richard Anders will be our Guest Speaker. He is a professor at
St Louis University, holding a PhD in Meteorology so you can call him "Doc". He also holds a BS in Aeronautical
Engineering & Aircraft Maintenance Engineering. He is a Pilot and an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic.
Bob McDaniel, Director of Aviation at St Louis Downtown Airport will be our guest speaker. He made his first solo
flight at St. Louis Downtown Airport on his 16th birthday and began working at the airport as a "lineboy"
that same day. For the next six years he gassed planes, cut grass by the runways, repaired runway lights and worked
in the airport administration office to earn money to continue his flying lessons. After earning his commercial
pilot's license and receiving his degree in Aeronautical Administration from Parks College of St. Louis University,
he continued his flying career in the Air Force.
After 4 years as a T-38 Talon Instructor Pilot, he was assigned to the Lockheed C-141 Starlifter flying worldwide
airlift missions. During his tenure as a C-141 Instructor and Examiner Pilot, Bob served as Bob Hope's personal
pilot for his 1990 USO Tour and flew Presidential support missions and numerous combat missions in Panama and the
Persian Gulf War. The last several years of Bob's military career focused on establishing airport operations around
the globe. He led the first US troops into Bosnia, directed humanitarian relief operations into the former Soviet
Union, transformed the derelict Mogadishu, Somalia airport into the busiest airport in Africa, and directed other
vital airlift operations at major international airports around the globe.
After a 25 year military career, Bob retired as a colonel to return to civilian airport management as the Director
of Texarkana Regional Airport, the fourth busiest commercial service airport in the State of Arkansas and recently
accepted the position he now holds at CPS. Bob remains an active Mooney pilot and is frequently seen in the skies
over St. Louis sharing the thrill of aviation with today's youth.

We occasionally send out an email to our members. An example would be the one
we sent out on October 10th about Senate Bill 1512. The bill would require the President to submit a report containing--
(1) a description of each restriction, if any, on the use of national airspace put in place as a result of the
September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that remains in place as of the date of the enactment of this Act; and
(2) a justification for such restriction remaining in place.
If you did not receive that email it is because we do not have your email address or you have changed it. If you
would like to be on our email list please send an email to MoPilots@att.net.

Happy Thanksgiving !
