Jean Russell, PhD, Manager of Development for St. Louis Based Wings of Hope.
Dr. Russell continues as the second generation of the Rodgers family in the work of this international aviation charity. Her uncle, Paul J. Rodgers of Ozark Airlines, was one of "Wings" four founders. Her humanitarian work focuses on expanding and enhancing the mission of Wings of Hope, "…to save lives, improve the quality of life, and bring hope to people around the world…" She will share with us her field experiences in Ecuador, and describe the work of the Wings of Hope Medical Air Transport, the St. Louis based aircraft that brings sick children and their families to healthcare, free of charge.
Dr. Russell is a 1987 cum laude graduate of St. Louis University, taking her degree in Communications. In 1990 she completed her M.A. in American Studies and in 1995 her PhD in Foundations of Education, both degrees from St. Louis University. Dr. Russell teaches in the areas of educational philosophy, statistical, and research methods.
Dr. Russell's presentation is certain to be exciting and informative so don't miss it! Social hour (cash bar) begins at 6:00 PM; dinner ($16.00) is at 7:00 PM. Fly-Ins Encouraged! A number of aircraft will also be on display at AIRstravaganza, including experimental, homebuilt, military, classic and general aviation aircraft. Throughout both days, parachute jumpers from the Greater St. Louis Parachute Club will be doing solo and combined jumps.
AIRstravaganza will also include an automobile show. The show, which will take place on Sunday, will include custom and classic cars of all vintages. More than 150 cars are expected. Saturday, show participants will rally to AIRstravaganza, so you can expect to see extraordinary cars both days.

Saturday October 9th
Our October fly-out will be held on Saturday, October 9 to 2MO, Mount Vernon MO, which is 180nm WSW from SUS. Flyout for the month is the MPA PICNIC.
The first annual ALL Chapter MPA picnic will be held on October 9, at 1100 until 1600 at Rebel's Bluff Airstrip. Rebels Bluff is located two miles NNE of Mt. Vernon (Missouri) Airport which is 2MO, and it is 2 ½ miles west of town. 2MO is 180 nm SW from SUS, The lat/longs are N37 06.1 and W93 52.2. Runway 14/32 is 2,100 ft. of very nice sod. Use 122.9 UNICOM, and announce landing at Rebel's Bluff. If you cannot land on grass, use Mt. Vernon airport (2MO 3,160 ft. of new asphalt), and telephone ahead for transportation. There is no Avgas, 100LL, tiedowns or phones at Mt. Vernon airport. Fuel is available at Rebel's Bluff. Food will be catered by "Hawg Wild Bar-B-Que". You will get a Bar-B-Que sandwich, cole slaw, and baked beans, with two drink coupons for $7. RSVP no later than October 7.
If you are driving take I-44 west to exit 46, right turn on Bus 44 for 1.3 miles. Turn right on Missouri 37 and go only ¼ mile. Turn left on Sloan St/Hiway "V", and go 2.4 miles to Rebel's Bluff on the left.
