Wednesday September 1st

Plan to join us on Wednesday, September 1 at the Greenbriar Country Club, 12665 Big Bend Road,
for a presentation on helicopter EMS by Gale Wolff of ARCH Air Medical.

Gale Wolff began his career in aviation in 1978 as a Marine Second Lieutenant at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. He was designated a Naval Aviator in May 1980 and subsequently flew AH-1T Cobra helicopters at Camp Pendleton, California. After almost ten years with the Marines, military restructuring led to his transfer to the Navy. As a Navy airman he flew the SH-2F Seasprite anti-submarine helicopter and the military version of the Beechcraft King Air 200, the C-12. During his time in the service, Gale visited six continents and 30 countries. He was assigned to six different ships for over three years of deployed time.

After retirement as a Lieutenant Commander in 1994, Gale returned to his home town of St Louis and began his civilian career with ARCH Air Medical. He has flown more than 2300 patients and currently serves as the Aviation Manager for over 50 pilots. He instructs in all of ARCH's helicopters (BK 117, BO 105 and the Bell 40) and is a Check Airman on the BK and 407. He holds an ATP fixed wing and commercial instrument helicopter rating with over 6000 accident free flight hours.

Gale's presentation is certain to be exciting and informative so don't miss it! Social hour (cash bar) begins at 6:00 PM; dinner ($16.00) is at 7:00 PM. Seating is limited so reservations are definitely required. Please contact Carol Weber by email Carol@MoPilots.US or phone 636-458-2529 no later than Monday August 30 if you plan to attend.

(Have a present you don't know what to do with it? Bring it to the Meeting
and donate it to our 50/50. You'll get 3 free tickets for each item donated.)

Wednesday September 13th

Greater St Louis Flight Instructors Association Membership Meeting: Our September meeting will be held 7:00 PM, Monday the 13th in the main hanger at St. Charles Flying Service, 3001 New Town Blvd. north of Hwy 370. John Teipen will be making a presentation on the new LSA (Light Sport Aircraft). The first FAA meeting on this subject at Wings of Hope attracted about 110 people. We feel there will be a great deal of interest in this new certificate. There are many different rules and regulations with some still not finalized. Also, there will be reduced requirements to become a flight instructor at this new certification level. It is important that Flight Instructors be knowledgeable of this new certification. We encourage you to invite nonmembers that may want to attend, so please pass the word around or post notices. We will have many seats available for all that want to attend.

Saturday September 18th

Our September fly out will be held on Saturday, September 18 to Kentucky Dam State Park (Gilbertsville) M34 where we will enjoy lunch at Patti's 1880's Settlement. Patti's features home style cooking and fantastic desserts. This award winning restaurant features a two-inch thick pork chop, mile-high meringue pies, and homemade bread served piping hot in a flower pot. Winner of a Southern Living Magazine Reader's Choice Award in 1996, Patti's is a very popular restaurant. Reservations are absolutely required so an accurate head count is necessary. Please contact Michael Butler by Friday 17 September at 636-346-9430 or email Michael@MoPilots.US and plan to arrive at Noon.
